Archives For itunes

Bad, bad, BAD Amy!! Last music post was… almost two months ago, so I’m way behind on music to list. And my library is really messy… as is my FB Music thingy. Also… I’m broke, can’t buy albums x’D Some very interesting music style mixing listed below~~ like who would listen to Britney and Lang Lang on the same iPod? Or Dolly Parton on the same list as Marilyn Manson~~

I’m also struggling with my 2.0V of my iPod… lots of new additions to it, but zero playing~~ my old iPod had many tracks passing the 30 plays mark. So new iPod data BLOWS. xD

is go international for once and for all.

iTunes is not international. For one, if you’re from Peru (just found this one out, hahahaha) there IS a new iTunes Store Peru, which you can possibly use ONLY with a Peruvian CC. Makes sense that there is a Peru iTunes Store, now that they sell iPhones here. Only BIGGEST problem of them all…

THEY DON’T SELL MUSIC.

Same with iTunes Argentina, Brazil, Chile, China, Colombia, Costa Rica, Croatia, Czech Republic, El Salvador, Guatemala, Hong Kong, Hungary, India, Indonesia, Israel, Korea, Kuwait, Lebanon, Malaysia, Mexico, Pakistan, Panama, Philippines, Poland, Qatar, Romania, Russia, Saudi Arabia, Singapore, Slovakia, Slovenia, South Africa, Sri Lanka, Taiwan, Thailand, Turkey, United Arab Emirates, Venezuela and Vietnam.

Yes, I went through all the stores by country when I found the one from Peru to check that I’m not the only one getting screwed here. What good is something called iTUNES if I can’t get tunes… *rolls eyes*

Then there’s the issue with “only one-region” exclusive download, which could be in either of their country stores and you won’t be able to buy unless you got the cc and billing address from that region.

If Amazon is intelligent and goes international without regional restrictions (meaning no US IP addresses or minding the billing address) they will gain market. Availability is all. iTunes is still more available than Amazon since Amazon only works with a US IP.

The Battle of the iPods~

October 31, 2008 — 2 Comments

Battle of the iPodsAmy’s got (finally!) her new iPod. Er… I can’t remember what generations iPods they are, but I upgraded from a 20Gb to a 120Gb – but to tell you the truth,  re-uploading 14Gb of music BLOWS. I spent all my night going through 3 DVDs full of music, and I’ve only got 5Gb on my new iPod.

Plus, PLUS~~~ What about my play count data!! +60-played songs are suddenly becoming 0-played. Not to mention some of the mp3s in the backup don’t have the proper album, track number, date, or even artists names~ SUCKS, I tell you. Isn’t there a way to just MOVE my old iPod’s info into the new one?? Does anyone know?

I tried to look for an answer, but everyone was talking about syncing two iPods on one computer, but what I want is to sync my new iPod to the old one. Please help! T_T

Late Music for the Month!

October 8, 2008 — 5 Comments

Oops! Took longer to post about the music of the month this time because I wanted to go through most of the music I had on my “to listen” list. Finally did, JUST this second!

So without further ado, the list

Availability in all regions, cross-platform… ubiquitous movies, music… even books, if possible~ x’D Well, maybe I’m going too far with the books, since there’s a base of language and there’d be THAT barrier, but you get my point, right?

For instance, I can’t really remember when was the last time I went to watch a film at the movies, because I either:

  • Have already seen it on DVD
  • Have already waited months for it to be released, and have already lost interest
  • Have never been interested in it

So Amy supports world premieres because she’s impatient. Also, I would fully suport Paypal if they were available in Peru, but no~ They do not support accounts in Peru (That’s why I opened one when I was in Canada). Moreover, I would support other online stores (eg. mp3 stores) but they have region restrictions… some more annoying than others. One of the most annoying is the ‘billing address’ issue… even if I have a Canadian credit card, I would not be able to use their service because I don’t have a physical Canadian address anymore… WHILE I am still able to buy a physical album and ship it here for more or less the same amount of money.

I was also ready to buy shows through BitTorrent, but they support US Only – they ARE nice and professional enough to point it out below the “buy” button, so they won’t waste your time as you try to sign up for a new account there… to then find out you don’t have the right ISP, or you can’t add your credit card, or SORRY, THIS CONTENT IS ONLY AVAILABLE IN SUCH REGION. Ever happened?

So I’m all for movies and music available everywhere at the same time. And you?

It is almost a month… >almost< since the last music post. Since then, my iPod is in danger of permanently dying… I can’t think of all the Last Played/Play Count data that will be lost, add that to the fact that some backed-up music doesn’t have the correct song information such as year, track number or even album. BUMMER.

ANYWAY! Thanks to Olympics week, I have added a few albums to my collection! Most importantly… Chinese music. I am loving me some Bibi Chow music, as well as some Lee-Hom Wang music~~ And apparently many have been enjoying listening to Guan Zhe singing Beijing, Beijing Wo Ai Beijing, making that post with the lyrics the most popular in here. Alongside that post, Beijing Huan Ying Ni and Wo He Ni join the list of most popular posts… O_O

4th Generation iPodI’ve got a 4th generation iPod… yes, my iPod is 4 years… since the day I bought it on my trip to Hong Kong back in September 2004. Yes, my iPod has many scratches on the tiny 1.5 inches one-color screen. LOL I cannot watch videos, it doesn’t allow photos… and it’s only 20Gb. But it’s more than I could ask for…

Yesterday, my iPod suffered an accident, and it’s been on the border of a permanent coma. Connected through the USB cable to my Frankestein PC desktop, I tripped over the cable and it fell on the hard cold floor. I had dropped my iPod before, and apparently… it’s been taking its toll.

One of the problems that began happening is that Windows XP wasn’t recognizing the iPod, iTunes crashed… and I ended up restarting my computer more than a few times before I decided to disconnect it all. Once again, I disconnected all and restarted the system as I connected my iPod directly to the electrical outlet with the firewire.

It seemed to work that way, and I hadn’t lose any of the 3000+ songs I’ve got in it… over 14Gb of music. When I woke up today, everything seemed to work fine, and I set up the music that I wanted to listen while doing some studying, when all of a sudden everything stopped playing. Most of the songs I tried playing showed that little exclamation (!) sign when iTunes can’t find the original file.

After that, Windows and iTunes began acting weird again, and it did so in another computer. After a few more restarts, I plugged the iPod to the electrical outlet once again, and let it rest there for a while.

iPod is working once again… and songs that showed up as missing are playing fine.

My faithful 4-year-old iPod that accompanied me through so many sleepless school days during finals, during so many hours on a plane… and terrible endless waits in airports around the world. ~~~ There won’t be a replacement for my 4th generation iPod, just like there’s no replacement for my worn-out Adidas, which I bought in 2001 and have carried with me around the world… endured terrible rain, mud, moss, extremely long walks.

So… it’s been a month since my last Music post. LOL’ Sadly (or maybe luckily for my credit card??), there hasn’t been huge changes in my iTunes library. xD There’s been just a few additions to it~

First off, Sigur Rós – I was never a HUGE fan of them, but watching the NatGeo concert with Bjork was an incentive. I actually had a lot of fun with that one song they performed together, which had me giggling and tapping my upper legs and desk at the rhythm of their percussion~~ xD

Anyway~ Here’s the list:

Music for Free!?

July 19, 2008 — Leave a comment

Over a year ago, I wrote a lengthy post on downloading stuff with P2P or torrents, as well as legal downloads. In that post I mention I only had 2 legal downloaded albums from iTunes (Canada), and yes… now I probably got a few more (I got two more just a couple of weeks ago), and AM still waiting for Amazon MP3 to go international… is it offering this service already?? I must test for my next digital purchase.

**EDIT**
Amazon MP3 is still NOT international.
Amazon MP3 - Not International Yet

Anyway~ do you buy music? Do you support your favorite artist? Continue Reading…
