Archives For internet

I noticed some of my music/imeem posts had gone orange on me, and *le gasp* IMEEM is gone?

Apparently, IMEEM had some debts, and MySpace just bought it for only $1M. The transaction has been so quick, that imeem accounts haven’t been moved, and indie artists were left floating… and might not get paid at all.

This is what MySpace said:

We did not acquire imeem’s contracts or relationships as we have our own in place. MySpace Music has its own distribution platform, which includes relationships with prominent aggregators and indie labels, that provides indie artists ways to monetize their music on our site.

Sucks for indie music.

I wonder if I will get back those playlists though. I’m sure MySpace is planning to let people embed stuff, otherwise why “buy technology” from imeem, right? Those orange boxes suck.

Indie artists, use CDBaby. Besides letting you sell the albums you want, they will digitize it and will sell it and distribute on mp3 form. Or if you really trust your fans, just self-host your album and use paypal. That way is easier to count hits on your own files.

I doubt I will catch any more music videos by now, so here is my random list of best music videos in very random categories, because that’s what I do best, I think.

I’m writing as I go, so if I don’t make any sense. Forgive.

I received a notification on my email that Amazon was going to begin selling The Best of Rocko’s Modern Life: Volume 3 this week. First of all, I wasn’t aware that Volume 1 and Volume 2 were on the market. Then I read properly. It’s not an official release! It’s on DVD-R, so they won’t play on many DVD players. And they’re edited! And you gotta pay over $20USD for those volumes.

So that’s about $60 for just three volumes.
The Best of Rocko’s Modern Life – Volume 1
The Best of Rocko’s Modern Life – Volume 2
The Best of Rocko’s Modern Life Volume 3 (2 Disc set)

Now, is that fair? As a consumer, and as a fan of the show?

No, I don’t think so.

So this is a link to the complete 4 seasons of Rocko’s Modern Life.

very informative… but read fast. xD

jim-carrey-website

First, I have to admit something. I used to find Jim Carrey kind of attractive. LOL – There, I said it. I don’t care, most people I know don’t read this blog anyway. Hahaha. But Julz does, and I know she’ll probably have a field trip with this. She will either admit a crush too, or point it out from here on to make fun of it for the rest of my life xD

Anyway… website talk! I haven’t fully navigated through it because, either my internet connection is REALLY and I mean REALLY slow today, or this website weighs a ton because it took me 3 refreshes and more than a 2-minute load to just have the website appear. I mean, seriously~~~ 3 refreshes for the loading page to appear?

But still, I like the look. It’s pretty. I know. But navigating through some of the sections, I just tried clicking on stuff, but things took ages to load — I mean, I know. I get it, the transitions are nifty. But I don’t like waiting for my transition to load, you know? Waiting and then find out it’s just a transition?

Check it out yourself at JimCarrey.com

Will navigate through it later in the night, or over the weekend. Hopefully, it’s just my internet connection. How can it be? I hate telephones and mobiles, but can’t live without the internet. xD

The Web to Go Non-Latin

October 30, 2009 — 2 Comments

I was watching the news last night, and they began talking about the decision of the ICANN to implement non-Latin characters on domain names. What that means? In short, for us Asian entertainment fans, it means loads of Asian groups and musicians will be dishing more money to buy those domains for themselves.

Since I’m listening to Lee Hyori’s albums at the moment, I’ll take her as example. Let’s pretend that M-Net Entertainment had bought LeeHyori.com and Lee-Hyori.com, net, co.kr, etc — which they didn’t, IDIOTS — well, now they will have to dish more cash to buy 이효리.com, 이효리.net, 이효리.co.kr, etc.

Everyone is making a big fuzz on the news, and CNN is being particularly stupid about it wondering what Latin-alphabet-users like us will do to enter those address. The ICANN representative finally told it like it is, why would a person who CAN’T read Japanese, who CAN’T read Korean, Chinese, Arabic, Russian, etc would enter a website with a non-Latin URL?

I, on the other hand, think that this decision is just to cash in some more bucks, this time on the other side of the world. After all, these other companies who already own their Latin URL will also have to buy their non-Latin version. I mean, it would be a revolution if this Non-Latin implementation would let me type 可口可乐.com and would automatically open the website of Coca Cola China, without the need to buy that domain in addition to pay for coca-cola.com.cn, right?

Big money suckers!

xD

That was the moment for me. LOL I was expecting my Dr. Horrible mention xD
Now if only someone could upload for embed a good version of the intro
I love it when he mentions Joan… Ms. Holloway xD

Pimp the Blog!

From time to time, I link back to Julz blog, even though most her postings are now locked. What’s up with that, Julz? xD Anyway, I think it’s time to pimp blogs from time to time because, well… some blogs have simply good taste.

So I’m here to PIMP murmure*

murmure* is a Japanese blog in Japanese – don’t worry, you can still try to read it with Google translate – that talks about some different things, among those things are 3 mighty fine topics~~~

It’s Mysterious Ways!

The year, 2000… I think.

Mysterious Ways - Season 1 - Title

Anyway, for any fans of the shows, I just found the torrent for Mysterious Ways, that Canadian (probably shot on Vancouver) show with Adrian Pasdar (who is now married to Natalie Maines from the Dixie Chicks) with Rae Dawn Chong (who my mother refuses to believe is Chinese, LOL) and Alisen Down (playing the geeky and awkward Miranda) – by the by, I’m pretty sure I was a Declan/Miranda kinda shipper… ~ I’m telling you, it’s all about the geek.

Also, don’t mind the title sequence. It’s a really REALLY bad title sequence, super 90’s and cheese~ xD

Anyway, I’m posting the links to the torrents because there are no DVDs… I doubt there will be any releases since it’s such a tiny show… and Canadian. Canadian programming sucks when it comes to releasing on DVD.

It’s a little over 15Gb for both seasons, but it’s worth it if you want the show. Remember, the show getting a DVD release it’s a long shot. Better download while you can. And if the torrent goes dead (and there are still no DVD releases), you can leave a message to request re-seed.
