I’d figure I’d make this post count for today, instead of tomorrow xD – If you followed, I made Oscar 2010 Nomination Predictions which were pretty okay, except it was 10% down from last year. But my record is 85%
As for my Oscar winners, last year I made a 20/24… that’s 83%, though my record is 87% in 2003 xD
Predictions include “most likely to win” to “less likely to win”
According to these predictions (can’t believe I’m wishing that I get it wrong!) – Hurt Locker wins 3, and Avatar wins 6 – though they’re all technical.
So how say you?

This has also been a pretty good year of movie-watching — obviously, in terms of number of films watched not quality. Just a couple films I’m dying to watch left…

It used to be really difficult to watch shorts before the Academy Awards gave its shorts prize, but now it seems many filmmakers have decided to show their work online… and well, people have taken into uploading more shorts xD Obviously, except for the BBC and Wallace and Gromit in ‘A Matter of Loaf and Death’

Wow color me surprise. This is a lot of history in the making…
First, it’s a battle against Avatar vs. The Hurt Locker with each having 9 nominations. Followed by Inglourious Basterds with 8, Precious and Up in the Air with 6, Up with 5, and District 9, Nine, and Star Trek with 4.
Also, Peru just made Oscar History with its first ever nomination for Foreign Film.
I just got a few surprises like I asked, as well as really good guesses… missing some films, but also nice surprises like District 9 getting 4 nods. LOL
Tomorrow it’s nomination days!
My country is buzzing with anticipation of a possible Best Foreign Film nod for The Milk of Sorrow.
Anyway, I did Oscar predictions last year and I got about 85% of nominations right considering all of the categories, and nearly a perfect score in major categories of acting, directing and film. However, I don’t think I will be getting a score as good as last time.
What the title says~
From the 65 eligible foreign films, the top9 have been chosen~ I’m being positive here, instead of saying films have been cut. xD Anyway, as a surprise (to many?) Claudia Llosa’s The Milk of Sorrow (aka. La Teta Asustada) made the Top9, alongside:
At the moment, The White Ribbon and Un Prophete are lock-ins… it seems, so that leaves 3 more spots to fill. Which films will they be? I’ve seen The Milk of Sorrow and commented on them a year ago when the film won the top prize at the Berlinale. For a short review, and an article about the original title of the film plus other Peruvian films check out YAM003.
I received my Independent Spirit Awards agreement over the weekend, which allows me to get screeners (of some) of the films that will get nominated for the next Indie Spirits, which I just got my notification on Google calendar. xD That means it’s nearly award season, which will bring a LOT of Nomination and Winners posts until the first week of March when the Oscars happen.
In the meantime, here are some Academy Awards posts to keep you busy and updated.

89 documentary films have been reduced to 15 films. On the race? The Don’t-Kill-the-Dolphins documentary The Cove, which created a fuzz when the Tokyo Film Festival didn’t let them open the event.
But you know, dolphins are cute this is why it deserves a documentary (and it will probably win an Oscar for it if the cuteness continues).
I really want to be wrong on this one.
Food, Inc. is also on the race. I learned something from this one, must admit.
