Because I did. Malditos promotores! How on earth am I supposed to find out people are coming if you don’t bombard me with printed stuff on magazines, newspapers, cable commercials, or even a pityful data addition at Eventful. (more…)

Cinemax Latin America – Tekkonkinkreet and Yu Aoi!
What are the chances… really~~~ to become a fan of Juri Ueno and having the chance to watch Swing Girls at Centro Cultural Peruano Japones???
And now, what were the chances of watching Tekkonkinkreet not long ago… buying it online just a couple of days ago, and learning that it will be playing all throughout September on Cinemax Latin America??? So rejoice television surfers~~~ the zapping will end when being able to watch this, ‘coz it’s totally worth your viewing. Plus, it’s Yu Aoi… once you know Yu, her voice is very recognizable. Here’s what the Cinemax-LA website says about the film….
En la Ciudad del Tesoro, donde la luna sonríe y los niños pueden volar, la vida puede ser tan apacible como brutal. Allí dos huérfanos tratan de sobrevivir, mientras intentan proteger a sus habitantes de la mafia yakuza.
The two orphans, named Kuro (Black) and Shiro (White), make perfect compliments. Amy loves herself some compliments because it reminds her of symbols, and Amy loves symbols… for OBVIOUS reasons. xD Okay, maybe not so obvious… but whatever, that’s why they’re called “symbols” because they’re not obvious. LOL’
Anyway, knock yourselves out~~~ Here are the times for Cinemax Este and Cinemax Oeste – If you don’t have anything fancy (meaning just Cable Magico) you have Cinemax Oeste.

Cuentos Chinos? En los Medios Occidentales~
Chinese stories? Yah, in the Western Media.
Last week or so, my mother woke up to some news reporter, what else, talking about the Olympics. Such news report, title Cuento Chino (Chinese Story, as in Tall Tales?), broadcast sometime on Sunday (probably Reportajes) in Canal 2 (Frecuencia Latina).
Furious, my mother wrote a letter to one of those so-called opinion columns, for Somos magazine that is part of El Comercio newspaper.
Here is the copy of her email to them.

Motorokr Fest ’08 – Goo Goo Dolls in Lima?
**EDIT** They’re NOT coming. Check the comments~ xD
Okay, seems like I have been totally out of the loop here because I just found out that Motorokr Fest will be over the weekend (this Saturday to be precise). I blame it all on poor promotion… the event has totally been overshadowed by cable commercials about the Olympics, which will begin one day before the fest.
I would have never EVER known about it, if I hadn’t subscribed to Eventful back when Bjork was coming… so I checked my email today, and saw this in the event list.
First reaction was, HOLY SHIT! Goo Goo Dolls is coming??? I was also surprised about Lifehouse~~~ I wonder if my cousin is going. *looks for him and asks*
OK, it’s official~~~ The event has the worst promotion EVER. My cousin just found out when I told him. **EDIT** My friend doesn’t know anything about the event either, HA!
Such a pity, really… most important, the company selling the tickets (tuentrada.com.pe)- I didn’t EVEN KNOW that they existed. Never have seen a commercial by them, makes me iffy. It’s not like I love Teleticket (who also has a TERRIBLE website) – Wouldn’t Ticketmaster want to come??? I’ve gotten a pretty great service from them the times when I’ve bought tickets from them. xD
**EDIT** There’s also no info about the concert on Lifehouse’s Website or MySpace.
**EDIT** Molotov’s website shows the date as a CANCELED GIG.
**EDIT** No news if Cuarteto de Nos is/will or was ever on. Most likely that the event was entirely canceled, in which case organizers should update their online info.**LAST EDIT** Just checked the Eventful site, and they finally put the cancelled tag on it.

4 Luni, 3 Saptamini si 2 Zile – Finally in Lima!
Last year’s award-winning Romanian film, “4 Months, 3 Weeks and 2 Days” has finally arrived to screens in Lima. Mind you, just a few screens.
The film stars Anamaria Marinca as Otilia, a Romanian young woman who’s trying to help her friend to perform an illegal abortion in the 1980s.
It’s a well-acted film, and thought-provoking… which is really good if you like talking about the films afterwards…
I gave it a 4/5, and I’m probably gonna watch it again.
These are the time, but be sure to check Cine Terra.

Animation Madness!
I don’t know how many of you had the chance to grow up with this animation around them, but recently I got to watch some animated films that I had seen as a child. I mean, many of us have grown up with Disney… or some with Hayao Miyazaki work. But how about Sullivan Bluth Studios?

2008 Films Seen This Past Month
Aha! It’s time for a recap of films I have seen… truth be told, I haven’t seen AS MANY films as previous times, as I recall. There’s been entire weeks when I didn’t see any… and not even mentioning music~~ you will see.
Okay, so I managed to cross some names from my movie list. But the list has also increased a bit, LOL! Which means trouble, hahaha. This list of films is never ending.
So these are the films I’ve seen:

Feliz 28!
Yup~ Felices fiestas! xD Que viva el Peru, and the whole shebang~
Brace yourselves for some marching tomorrow, and prepare your illegally bought movies ‘coz many won’t be too fond of national TV xD
My jaw hurts, so I won’t be eating anything hard to chew. I’m beginning to hate doctors… my jaw hurts worse that it used to. It blows. Clean ears, my ass.
Also, YesAsia blows. I need to bent! Keep your fingers crossed for the next five days so they can at least find Dandelion… because Dandelion is oh-so-pretty-a-book. And I need to have it.

Viewers Against Only-Dubbed Films!
I am NOT against dubbing… I have read that some people with viewing difficulties prefer watching dubbed films, and I respect that. This is why I’m titling this “Only-Dubbed,” I don’t have a problem with dubbing a movie, but what bothers me is not having the option of watching the subtitled version of it.
Case and point, (more…)
