Archives For chen man

For some of her last photoshoots, photographer Chen Man (known for some mad photoshop wiz magic) has been toning down her post processing, and this latest issue of Marie Claire China featuring my bias Zhao Wei is proof. I always think Zhao Wei looks super hot, though.

Wait, what? Are you telling me Faye Wong smiles in pictures? [1]

Faye Wong graced the October cover (in three versions) of Elle China for the 26th Anniversary, with a photoshoot by Chen Man. She’s always glorious when shot by Chen Man.

You can check more of the photos and a brief (Chinese) interview with Faye at the Polysh. I tried the Elle website, but it’s not happening for me.

She also has two new songs out this year [1][2].

Only ONE of them can make it to my list. I need translations of the songs for that. At the moment, Fleet of Time is winning… mainly because I liked translating the title with such nostalgia feelings. lol

Better quality photos at Fashnberry.

… and Esquire Magazine likes covers with women shaving their fake beards.

I don’t like Sonam Kapoor. Seeing her name on a movie I’m about to watch (or should be in queue) elicits a groan from me, as it happened with Bhaag Milkha Bhaag or Delhi-6, which I must admit was successful and made me not hate her so much. But I’m also not madly in love with Fan Bingbing, so there.

Though I do think that Fan Bingbing is a better actress than Sonam Kapoor, I did find something that the two of them have in common. They’re both fashion ladies. Now they also have photos shaving their fake masculinity, with Sonam being photographed by Rohan Shrestha for… whoever the heck knows this is for.

Harper’s Bazaar China loves to celebrate with Faye Wong and photographer Chen Man, this is why both of them grace the cover of this year’s anniversary Harper’s Bazaar edition celebrating their 26th year. They celebrated their 25th year the same way.

So being the lover of photography that I am, I went around and look them all up — including last years photos. You can also check this Faye/HB photoshoot.

And as you can see, I have instantly fallen deeply in love with photographer Chen Man’s work. And I’ve already ordered her book Chen Man: Works 2003-2010, and added her tag xD so you can maybe expect more Chen Man postings in the future.

I believe that to change the future we cannot rely on the individual, but rather a collective force. Together we can change an individual’s way of life, as well as change the world.

Chen Man on the Future

Bam! I’m into making lists now. xD

To push distributors, and tickle their curiosity, as well as showing them it can also be good business to bring Asian flicks. Plus, cinephiles would love a little more variety in their local theaters, and I bet regular moviegoers wouldn’t mind one or two non-Hollywood blockbusters… after all, we already watch everything subtitled! We don’t have an issue with them like some… other… people.

If Americans (and Canadians) complain about the little variety of Asian films outside martial arts, or auteur cinema – well, really. Stop complaining. It’s even worse down here. If you got 5 releases a year (just an assumption), then we get one… if we’re lucky. Sorry, I’m not so campy with J-horror… I’m a little tired. I must be too old for it now. LOL
