  • I’ll never let you part for you’re always in my heart

I remember the feeling when MJ passed away. Within the family, it’s common to think that you could not possibly cry for people you’ve never met, and that’s true most of the times. I don’t know anyone personally that cried when MJ passed, but I remember the day of the memorial concert, when Jennifer Hudson performed Will You Be There [1]… it wasn’t her performance, it was the moment when Michael does her spoken monologue with that broken voice- I didn’t break down, but I did share a few hazy looks with my TV.

    In our darkest hour
    In my deepest despair
    Will you still care?
    Will you be there?
    In my trials
    And my tribulations
    Through our doubts
    And frustrations
    In my violence
    In my turbulence
    Through my fear
    And my confessions
In my anguish and my pain
Through my joy and my sorrow
In the promise of another tomorrow
    I’ll never let you part
For you’re always in my heart

  • Whitney Houston’s His Eye Is On the Sparrow

While watching the latest version of Sparkle — besides checking out Carmen Ejogo (*legasp* English??) and fist-pumping for Tika Sumpter — the most emotional scene in the whole movie, which had me side-drying the “single” tear that kept on rolling down my left cheek, was when Whitney performed that song. And I didn’t even cry when her death was announced (more liked shocked). It’s just one of those powerful spiritual moments.

  • Ai shi Amor, Señorita, Buenos Días~

I’mma be loving this song, which has been included in Crowd’s latest album Guitar (有吉他的流行歌曲, complete title: Pop Songs with Guitar), strangely titled: One Bento Box (一個便當), even though the official name is simply Bian Dang x)

I’ve always loved that he uses — rather random — Spanish in his songs.

  • Brit, I Miss You!

I have been listening to …Baby One More Time and Oops!… I Did it Again — nearly non-stop — for the past two days. And I just really really REALLY miss you so much. I think it’s due to my cousin mentioning you, and then wanting to see you on The X Factor. But it’s not the same :(

  • BEG Tonight 37.2C Concert Tease

Title: 2012 Brown Eyed Girls Tonight 37.2°C Concert – in Seoul
    Date: 9PM, December 24th & 25th, 2012
    Venue: Millennium Hall, Central City
Ticket Price: \110,000 (VAT included) / All standing
    Age rate: 19 and older
    Ticket Open: 6th November, 2012

I am mad excited about this concert, and mad jealous about it, because 1. Dude, it’s in Korea. I don’t do that type of tourism. xD 2. Chances of BEG actually stopping by Peru are close to null.

There are a number of reasons I’m excited for this… the main one being: it’s Brown Eyed Girls. Now, they’re all grown up and comfortable with themselves and this whole concert concept centers on the temperature of 37.2C which is the temperature the body reaches during the loveeeeee motion. I’m glad for them, that they get to play around with that.

The next best thing to actually being there for the Seoul concert, other than a concert in Lima of course ;P, would be a Blu-ray release (preferably) but I would settle for a DVD if they must.

  • Dead Man’s Bones – My Body’s a Zombie for You

    Halloween love!

My Body’s a Zombie for You by Dead Man’s Bones~~~
in a project by James Duffy and photographer Lucy Nuzum.

  • Brown Eyed Girls’ Tonight 37.2C, Please.

brown eyed girls concert 37 2

Yes, please. Someone should make this happen in Peru~~~ like, cough~ Noizu Producciones. Cough. I would pay $300 bucks to watch an intimate unplugged with Brown Eyed Girls and to be up close. LOL And you know I’m cheap ass for concerts, but I’ll do it for BEG.

  • The Chinese Music Collection

It’s been roughly… four years. Give or take. It’s been a good ride, and it’s still going strong… so we still got a long way to go. Guys, if you would’ve gotten me at my “good” times, you’d be millionaires by now. Back when I was in high school I bought anything I could… even if I only like one song- I would have bought your whole album for that one song. I’ve got around 30 physical album with music in Mandarin — that’s roughly 7 albums a year… which is about an album every two months. Trust me, it’s not a bad deal.

    Plus, imports are expensive…

All of the albums’ artists have their tags on the blog except for SingerSen. I haven’t talked about her much on this blog… yet. But maybe one day in the near future, I’ll add her own tag.

This is also not counting the music DVDs xD so there’s a couple more.

As a fan, I think I’ve been good to Chinese music fandom.

  • You Me by Hamacide + ChaCha

Just ran into this song- a collaboration between producer Hamacide and Shanghai singer ChaCha on vocals. The EP — which seems more like an elaborate single really — has different remixes by Downstate, Jared Turinsky, Lightswitch Lafayette as well.

    With artwork by Lily Xiao.

You can also buy this on Bandcamp.

  • Best Kpop Spanish Subs!

Recently, I’ve noticed that Kpop YouTube channels have been uploading their content with English subtitles!! That makes them official English subtitles — for some major groups like Brown Eyed Girls’ GaIn’s Bloom [MV] and Miss A’s I Don’t Need a Man [MV] (they’ve even added Simplified Chinese!) are recent examples — rendering in my opinion most (if not all) Kpop fansub groups useless.

There’s now no reason to upload an extra video with subtitles… at least in English [1].

Having said that… the quality of subtitles are very important when choosing your fansub group. It is, of course, the content and subtlety of the translation that matters the most, but in terms of hardsubs- it’s also about type-setting. It needs to be readable, and personal comments kept away out of the subtitles [1]. Matters should be as professional as possible… that also means language should be as neutral as possible.

You know I don’t really mind my songs not being translated… but it’s nice to find your favorite songs done the right way.

So thank you, JyariKpop, for your quality subs.

My favorite is, of course, SunnyHill’s Pray [1].
