  • January Films and Mid. Feb~

I’m still trying to watch The Last Station, Crazy Heart and A Single Man just so I can get done with voting for the Indie Spirit Awards, so crossing fingers that I get to watch those before the deadline…

It feels like I saw a lot of stuff these days, but the quantity might not be as much because I also saw a lot of TV shows, which would explain why I feel like I’ve seen a lot…

  • Satellites Always Get Forgotten

These were announced on December, LOL
And I didn’t even post on 2008 xD

But the Satellite Awards were out, sadly Toni Collete lost Best Actress Comedy in favor of Lea Michelle on Glee. And Toni lost her SAG nod… that means I got 2/4. Damn.

Anyway, I dunno how popular the Satellite is, but they do have some wacky choices.

First of all, there was no Avatar. Praise Geezus. LOL

These are the Top10 2009 Films according to them:

    • (500) Days of Summer
    • A Serious Man
    • An Education
    • Bright Star
    • Inglourious Basterds
    • Nine
    • Precious
    • The Hurt Locker
    • The Stoning of Soraya M.
    • Up in the Air

  • Take this Waltz with Sarah Poley and Michelle Williams

    … and Seth Rogen.
    I mean, really… Seth Rogen? Okay…

After the success that was Away from Her in 2007-2008, Sarah Polley is ready to get back to the director’s chair… this time around with a romantic comedy titled Take this Waltz. Polley wrote the script while editing Away from Her, and decided to finally finish it up.

The film, about a love triangle in which Michelle Williams’ character struggles with infidelity will have her starring opposite Seth Rogen and another man, yet to be cast.

Can I suggest Ryan Gosling? xD

Because you want to see Blue Valentine, right?

  • I’m a Good Downloader

Fight illegal downloads, and be cool!

    via Wildgrounds.

Yes, yet another downloads, distribution and torrents post. Why? Because it is important to discuss this issue as many many cases of people who download are brought to court.

It is important to point out the different types of uploaders/downloaders. First, the uploaders — there are those who upload to share and spread their interest so they find someone they can share a common interest with. Someone to talk to about this piece. However, they are often confused with the people who upload to get hits and possibly ad revenue… meaning, making a profit.

This is why so many fansubbing groups are against streaming, many streamers (unless they are authorized) upload videos that don’t belong to them (they don’t even sub stuff themselves!), since streaming is easier than download they get more hits and become more popular from other people’s work.

  • VIZ Celebrates Isshin Inudo

Viz Cinema (Pictures, etc etc) is the answer to J-Film fans in the US, Canada… and well, pretty much the whole continent. These coming weeks, besides showcasing 20th Century Boys 2, and Gurren Lagann, Viz will be screening two of Isshin Inudo’s films. The first one being Josee, the Tiger, and the Fish — on my bday xD — and La Maison de Himiko.

Josee counts with the presence of Juri Ueno in a small role ;P alongside Satoshi Tsumabuki, and Chizuru Ikewaki. While Himiko stars Joe Odagiri and Kou Shibasaki.

more info about the screenings over at Nippon Cinema.

  • Oscar 2010 Nominations

Wow color me surprise. This is a lot of history in the making…

First, it’s a battle against Avatar vs. The Hurt Locker with each having 9 nominations. Followed by Inglourious Basterds with 8, Precious and Up in the Air with 6, Up with 5, and District 9, Nine, and Star Trek with 4.

Also, Peru just made Oscar History with its first ever nomination for Foreign Film.

I just got a few surprises like I asked, as well as really good guesses… missing some films, but also nice surprises like District 9 getting 4 nods. LOL
