The Notebook

January 18, 2008 — 3 Comments

Well, continuing with naming best kisses that I began with this kiss post, I thought I could also post about The Notebook. First of all, I was never into watching the film, until I saw it as a download… but I had to admit, I liked it~~ So I’m guilty of watching it again on cable. Ha! Pity Gosling and McAdams are not together anymore ‘coz they made an awesome couple.

Anyway, there are a bunch of kisses on the film, and the ending is oh-so-sad. BUT, the kiss I’m talking about is the one during the “I waited for you, I wrote to you for a year, It’s raining, and I want you” kiss. Hahaha, you know, THAT kiss. Both are soaked with the rain, she’s telling him she waited for Noah, and now it’s too late. And he tells her that he wrote to her, but she never responded, and BAM!

Here’s some simple graphics:

I know lyrics are online, but people might be still looking for them… mainly because Kent’s website is all in Swedish, ha! Makes it just a tiny bit harder to look around if you don’t know Swedish… though it’s pretty similar to English. Anyway, 99,9% of the credit goes to Kent.nu

And Julyssa, for giving me the album. She knows she rocks…

Deezer Not Playing Songs?

January 17, 2008 — 1 Comment

Apparently Deezer’s brand new player (2.0) doesn’t allow right-clicking greyed-out songs. However, the following code seems to be setting a ‘french’ cookie so you can listen to them…

Taken from this Deezer forum topic;

javascript:function SetCookie (name, value){var aujourdhui = new Date();var expdate=new Date();expdate.setTime(aujourdhui.getTime()+(24*60*60*1000));document.cookie = name + “=” + value + “;expires=”+expdate.toGMTString()+”;path=/”;}SetCookie(‘COUNTRY’, “FR”);

Juno Luv

January 16, 2008 — Leave a comment

Ellen Page - Juno PreggersThe last time I remember writing a review, it was for Golden Compass. This time I must express my luv for Juno… I instantly fell in luvvvv with the film, and we luvvv Diablo Cody for that. Ellen Page was superb as pregnant teen, Juno, though I admit Juno might be a little too smart to end up in shenanigans like that, but that’s besides the point. Ellen Page = Junoness.

Michael Cera is cute as Juno’s sperminator, while Simmons and Janney do great as the parents who don’t freak out… Jennifer Garner and Jason Bateman appear as the couple adopting Juno’s unborn baby. Oh yeah! And I have to mention Valerie Tian as abortion protester/classmate Su-chin (who happens to be from Vancouver, woot woot).

Juno is enjoyable, well acted, and has a rocking soundtrack. It’s a must-watch for people, and it’s a must-have for me! Oh yeah, and how much did all those cute doodling-doodle-dos rock?

I leave you all with a kick-ass interview with Ellen Page from Curve online-mag.

BAFTA Nominations

January 16, 2008 — Leave a comment

Okay, I admit it… I’m not as aware of BAFTA awards or nominations as I am of the Academy Award, or the GG… or lately, the SAG… but today we had a bunch of nominees~~

No Country for Old Men, Atonement, There Will Be Blood, The Lives of Others (last year’s Foreign Film winner at the Oscar), The Bourne Ultimatum, Eastern Promises are some of the nominees for Best Film and Best British Film. While the Coen Bros are a shoo-in in the Best Director category~ lol’ Also, they are among the nominees for Best Adapted Screenplay, while Diablo Cody is in for a Best Original Screenplay. Oh yeah, and Ratatouille is a 99,9% winner in the Best Animated Film category.

In the acting categories, Daniel Day-Lewis, Viggo Mortensen, and Ulrich Mühe (RIP, for The Live of Others) are among the Best Actor category; while Julie Christie, Ellen Page and Marion Cotillard will battle the Best Actress one. In the supporting roles, Javier Bardem and Cate Blanchett are most likely to win!

The BAFTA winners will be announced on Feb. 10th!

Oxymoron MusicPass

January 10, 2008 — 2 Comments

How thick can an industry get?

I got a bunch of e-mails promoting the new MusicPass idea, which brought a very loud “whose brilliant idea was it? No, like… really.”

Dear, Sony.
The idea of music download is that you don’t need to go to a retailer to pick up a copy of an album, and you don’t even have to wait for the retailer to open in the morning.

Well, considering I do most of my digital music shopping at 4 a.m. ~~~~ xP

First week of 2008 is done! Been catching up on many films, and reading news. First things first, Julie Christie seems to be leading the award season, closely followed by Marion Cotillard, and Ellen Page!

The big thing of this season is that Golden Globes will be reduced to just a press conference announcing the winners, meaning that if Marion wins the GG for Best Actress on a Comedy/Musical, she won’t be there to accept the award, and her moment in the spotlight will be shunned by this event.

On other related news, the striking writers seem to be closer to reaching a deal… that would be good for Oscar season… because Oscar is important to Amy. If there’s no Academy Awards this year, it will be the first year in 10 years that she misses the broadcast~~ well, in this case, I wouldn’t miss it because there will be nothing to miss!

I am mostly rubbish at Golden Globes predictions, but I’m pretty sure No Country for Old Men, There Will Be Blood will be among the winners… Daniel Day Lewis, or Viggo Mortensen, Julie Christie, Marion Cotillard or perhaps Ellen Page? And Could Johnny Depp be there?
