I didn’t know Femina had a Chinese version!

I’ve just published a list of 100 songs in Chinese (mostly Mandarin, but also Cantonese… and maybe Hokkien… can’t be sure of that) that’s a great cheat sheet for anyone wanting to show off their knowledge of the scene. There’s definitely a wide variety of artists, so you’re sure to find something you enjoy.

This is an oldie pic of Chang Chen for Esquire Hong Kong photoshoot published back in December 2014, credited to KAON [Instagram].

More photos on Esquire HK. And here’s a video of the shooting done by BOKEHK Creations.

There’s also a shoot and video of Aaron Kwok for the August’15 edition, shot by Kaon R Workshop, and sharing because- WHY NOT?

According to searches, you just can’t get enough of 4th-Highest-Paid-Actress-Worldwide and Only-Woman-of-Color-in-the-list (yet the palest of them all) Fan Bingbing… so here she is in all her visual glory for the latest Vogue Taiwan shot by the wonderful Sun Jun [1].

Look at that gorgeous cape and fabric!

So I finally gave myself time to listen to both Buddha Jump (佛跳牆) albums. Their 2014 one, Let You See (給你看), is pretty good. Fell in love with this tune at first listen~ also, surprised to learn it’s a project by Penny Tai.

The clip below is from a small show they did in China.

You can get the album on iTunes.

Will keep this list updated here.

Feels like I haven’t posted a trailer in ages on here, but since it’s already been like a month- this is more of a personal note to watch this coz it looks so damn funny.

Cast: Vivian Sung (宋芸樺), Darren Wang (王大陸), Dewi Chien (簡廷芮) and Dino Lee (李玉璽).

One go, not much thinking and over-thinking. Yup, this looks about right.

  • 2000 – Crouching Tiger, Hidden Dragon
  • 2001 – Moulin Rouge!
  • 2002 – Gangs of New York
  • 2003 – The Lord of the Rings: The Return of the King (because I have to)
  • 2004 – Finding Neverland
  • 2005 – Munich
  • 2006 – Letters from Iwo Jima
  • 2007 – There Will Be Blood
  • 2008 – The Curious Case of Benjamin Button
  • 2009 – District 9
  • 2010 – Toy Story 3 (because you HAVE TO)
  • 2011 – Midnight in Paris
  • 2012 – Life of Pi
  • 2013 – 12 Years a Slave
  • 2014 – Boyhood

I struggled a little with LotR and (maybe) Toy Story, but I’ll give it to them anyway~ I’m also a bit lukewarm about Finding Neverland and Midnight in Paris, and I totally warmed up to Life of Pi… though I don’t mind Argo. With Boyhood over Whiplash (despite me liking the other one better xD), it makes the list a lot more larger than life.

I randomly ran into this amazingness of 2013 that I had never heard a peep from. Why wasn’t this viral? It’s weird for people, it’s super funny, and it’s got dancing Ahyis~

I couldn’t find much info on it, a search for Puffy Peng heeds no results, so I’ll add the Chinese characters in. The song is… I suppose in Taiwanese (?) and has some bits of dialog in Mandarin, and is possibly your dance routine next time you hit the (super)market.

It also spawned this mash-up of Beyonce’s Single Ladies.

I didn’t know My Fair Princess (aka. Return of the Pearl Princess, 还珠格格) was a scoundrel/robin-hood type of princess! I’d would’ve watched much sooner otherwise~ Haven’t made it that far yet, though, I was greatly entertained by the first episode. Action and feel looks 90s China outdated, but I don’t feel like Mainland Cdrama has improved dramatically.

I’m hoping someone fansubs (or at least uploads) Zhao Wei’s newest Cdrama Tiger Mom (虎妈猫爸) [Trailer].

I made a playlist with all the listed episodes.
