  • Sign Me Up for the Upcoming Shiina Ringo Concert Release

I was catching up with all my ‘to watch’ queue on YouTube which at some point had been inundated with Shiina Ringo thumbnails. After her split from Tokyo Jihen and the celebration of her debut 15 years ago, she’s releasing this gorgeous (and pricey) concert.

I was just marveling myself with the palest of pale queens and thought to myself that if I ever get to see her show live, I would probably cry. When Bjork was here for the first and only time, I remember tearing up a bit- the others I would tear up/cry for would be Shiina Ringo, Faye Wong… and BiBi, for sure.

It’s been ages since I last bought anything on HMV Japan.

  • My Contemporary Indian Mildred Pierce

    So I did it~

    mildred-pierce-indian-contemporary

I did my fictional dream cast for my remake of Mildred Pierce set in contemporary India. Right now, just after re-watching Mildred Pierce, I feel it’s perfect. I love it.

  • Guillermo del Toro is Hobbled by Mana-chan

I just imagined Mana-chan (who is not so little any longer) jumping and latching herself onto the huggable Guillermo del Toro. I imagine a world where Del Toro found a tiny muse and made a movie with her. NOW! GIMME ME.

  • Website Content and Structure

I’ve worked on (small scale) websites for a while, and this is the first time I’ve read an item on a news site that included non-related items in the same page. I told myself ‘I don’t get websites any longer.

    content-information-websites

I don’t get what Kim Novak, BitCoins, Putin and a BBC sitcom have to do with each other to be included on a page with the URL only referring to the Kim Novak item. In terms of plain simple content nor information architecture.

  • You Little Bollywood Monster You

The mindmeister movie journey has sprung several arms and legs, probably a few dozen fangs and a few couple of eyes. Since the beginning of the year [1], I’ve watched some 56 Indian films.

New additions? Farah Khan has her own hub, and Mira Nair has shown up there, as did M.F. Husain. Lootera sprung Ranveer Singh and Sonakshi Sinha, and Ranveer sprung Anushka Sharma and Parineeti Chopra. Luck by Chance sprung Farhan Akhtar and Madhur Bhandarkar finally got his hub. Major new film additions to Kamal Hassan, Sridevi (GOSH, Sadma/Moondram Pirai), and Shabana Azmi.

  • From the Vault: Cutie Khamatova

This has just showed up online. A super squishable Chulpan Khamatova, plus two other pictures from her childhood that were all feature on a short interview (I’m not sure what it is), which you can view on Lenta.ru — There’s an alternative Vimeo link, but it’s taken from the source.

  • Kishi Bashi ‘Philosophizes’ for Lighght

A couple of weeks ago (maybe during the beginning of the year), I discovered Kishi Bashi and the amazingness that is his 151a album. He’s just announced his new album titled Lighght, and has supposedly released this new track titled Philosophize In It! Chemicalize With It! that I think is slightly different to the one included in his Philosophize! Chemicalize! EP last year.

  • Trying out Letterboxd~

In a state of MUBI panic, I opened a Letterboxd account.

    amy-letterboxd

Okay, I did more than just try it out. I spent a few couple of hours coordinating my rating from both IMDb and MUBI, and I’m pretty much done with anything that’s not between 2000-2009. With top ratings from 2010-2012 and all ratings from 2013.

I still miss Favorite Cast Members and Directors and lists from MUBI. Also a “favorite” seems to be quite different to “a like” in my lexicon.
