You know, for a year when I didn’t watch that many movies, I’m doing pretty good. LOL Confession! I haven’t been following award season, it does feel like it’s my second or third year already. I do know that people have been freaking out because all critic guilds and industry guilds have been awarding all different movies.  As the saying goes~ todos parecen más perdidos que cuy en tómbola!

Here’s my Spirit Award one.

Light blue highlights mean watched, hot pink are pending, and green on the queue already.

My favorite competing film this year (so far) is Lady Bird coz it got me in the feels. I wouldn’t mind The Shape of Water winning, though. Considering BAFTA nominations (Producers’ Guild win and Directors’ Guild nom), The Shape of Water does seem to have a love more momentum than actors-backed Three Billboards, and this one also has a strong BAFTA showing.

Fun fact, yo! Darkest Hour, Phantom Thread and Victoria & Abdul are [most likely] the first Chinese-backed films that make it to Oscar. All backed by Perfect World Pictures (北京完美影视传媒) [1].

One go, not much thinking and over-thinking. Yup, this looks about right.

  • 2000 – Crouching Tiger, Hidden Dragon
  • 2001 – Moulin Rouge!
  • 2002 – Gangs of New York
  • 2003 – The Lord of the Rings: The Return of the King (because I have to)
  • 2004 – Finding Neverland
  • 2005 – Munich
  • 2006 – Letters from Iwo Jima
  • 2007 – There Will Be Blood
  • 2008 – The Curious Case of Benjamin Button
  • 2009 – District 9
  • 2010 – Toy Story 3 (because you HAVE TO)
  • 2011 – Midnight in Paris
  • 2012 – Life of Pi
  • 2013 – 12 Years a Slave
  • 2014 – Boyhood

I struggled a little with LotR and (maybe) Toy Story, but I’ll give it to them anyway~ I’m also a bit lukewarm about Finding Neverland and Midnight in Paris, and I totally warmed up to Life of Pi… though I don’t mind Argo. With Boyhood over Whiplash (despite me liking the other one better xD), it makes the list a lot more larger than life.

Now it’s time for the boys~

Who made it and who didn’t? I was surprised myself. LOL Don’t forget to comment and share ;)

I didn’t do one last year because… because I didn’t care. I probably care less this year, since I have less films that I liked, and my watching colored-coding has been reduced to “watched” and have no desire “to watch” anything. Let alone “dying to watch” [1] [2]

But here it is- what I’ve watched and some of my rough predictions.

Also attaching [1] my Watched List from last year.

Nominations are in! Just with a quick look, I’ve only seen 60% of the nominees, so I’m excited to see the rest. Looking good for some of those peoples there. Not really big surprises, except for a couple double nominations  and one double nomination in a category… and some new names in the Foreign category.

My scandalous and ironic side says Peruvians will hate Chile even more (for unnecessary issues) – dearest The Milk of Sorrow didn’t make it to the list.

Also! Jumpy claps for Glee!! and Jumpy bloody hands for Dexter!!

Continuing with the warm-up!
Woohoo!! Movie count is up to 41!!
Only 7 more to go~~~ xD

First, some observations. I noticed that I’ve only listed about 70 films (counting with some really REALLY bad ones there), and I had to cut to half of those… the results are kind of very American. You agree?

If you want… it’s so much Ooh La~~~, watch it in HD. xD

inside the gold’s following of Nine made me wonder…

Yes, Nine will have a pretty heavy list of credits when the trailer comes out. You can just imagine…

Nine… starring

Double Academy Award winner Daniel Day-Lewis, Academy Award Winner Marion Cotillard, Academy Award Winner Judi Dench, Academy Award Winner Sophia Loren, Academy Award Winner Nicole Kidman, Academy Award Nominee Penelope Cruz
Directed by Academy Award Winner Rob Marshall.

Which made me, and other people, wonder if there had been other heavily Oscar Winner projects. I can’t really think of anything at the top of my head, but I was checking IMDb (and got side-tracked a little), and I didn’t come up with anything. Hahahaha.

From just trailers, I thought Burn After Reading did a pretty filled Academy Award credited film. Let’s see… I had to check some of the credits, but I don’t think it does as Oscar-studded as Nine. Here goes~~

Burn After Reading starring…

Academy Award Winner George Clooney, Academy Award Winner Tilda Swinton, Academy Award Winner Frances McDormand, Academy Award Nominee Brad Pitt, Academy Award Nominee John Malkovich

Written and directed by Academy Award Winners Ethan and Joel Coen.

I could even stretch this a WHOLE lot more and say Cold Mountain was pretty Oscar-studded. LOL. Considering some of the actors earned their nominations and winnings after the film xD. Check this out…

Cold Mountain starring…

Academy Award Winner Nicole Kidman, Academy Award Winner Renee Zellweger, Academy Award Winner Philip Seymour Hoffman, Academy Award Nominee Jude Law, Academy Award Nominee Natalie Portman.

Directed by Academy Award Winner Anthony Minghella

Have you got any project that is Oscar-studded??
