I was struggling on who to pick as my #10 Actress, but I finally saw Miao Miao, so I thought to give the spot to Sandrine Pinna (or Chang Yung Yung). It’s an interesting choice for me because I’ve only ever seen her on this one film, but I’ll trust my gut instinct on this one… after all, I couldn’t really resist her charm on the first 10min of the film.
*EDIT* I had to change the other image because
it turned out NOT being Pinna. LOL Forgive.
This week I was thinking about making a compilation of 20 actors (women and men) between the ages of 20-25 to keep track until they’re 30. I tried writing the post today, but it turns out I don’t have many names. Ha! First, some of the people I was considering adding to the list are 26, or not even 20… or are already in their 30s, which is great for them since I thought they were in their 20s… not so good for my list.
At the moment though, I have 8 actresses already picked out. However, I’m missing 2 more actresses. And I’m missing all of the guys (10). HAHAHAHA. So I need help. Leave a comment with some names of young actors/actresses.
Just some things to keep in mind…
must be between 20-25, can also be turning 20 this year.
must have more than one or two films on her/his CV.
too much TV and only 1 film doesn’t count.
award recognition is nice, but not mandatory.
As I add the people in single posts, I’ll be adding their names here and linking. :)
I know I’ve tagged this with “new talent” and “new music” when in fact it’s not.
First, a little about Han Hong – according to Chinese Wiki – She’s won the award for the Most Popular Female Singer, as well as the Best Female Artist Award (in mainland China). That means she’s critically acclaimed, and popular among the public – which doesn’t happen often on this side of the world. LOL
Her voice is often compared (by the fans) to Sarah Brightman for her unique style… music and lyrics. – and everyone loves Brightman… she was even on the Beijing Olympics Opening.
Now, a little on my story. I first noticed her at the Beijing Paralympic Opening Ceremony – with Andy Lau singing Flying with the Dream – but I didn’t have much luck getting her name or clips back then, so I kinda forgot about it until the day I was watching those music concerts on CCTV back in April and she appeared on stage. My mom thought what an amazing voice! While I added I had seen her in the Paralympic Ceremony… totally forgetting she’s also featured on the Beijing Welcomes You music video (thank you, whoever did those annotations! It’s hard to keep track of so many singers…) – Anyway, that day… I ended up discovering Chris Lee instead of Han Hong… but the wait is OVER!
Since the beginning, I’ve always thought she had an amazing voice, but the video above moved me so much. It gave me shivers, and almost brought tears to my eyes. No, really. It’s THIS video in particular… this performance. She’s an amazing vocalist! I would love to see her perform with Sarah Brightman herself, or maybe even the lovely women of Celtic Woman – or Meav *tsk tsk*
I’m not completely sold on her videos – like on most vocalist I follow – but her live performances are so much more worth it. Here are some of her other performances…
That is a photo of Carey Mulligan looking a bit different, but a pretty cool photograph. Who’s Carey Mulligan, you say? Well, I first spotted her as Elsie on My Boy Jack (starring Daniel Radcliffe), but truth be told~ I couldn’t pay much attention to it until her scenes came up.
Where else have you seen her? She was also Kitty on Pride & Prejudice (the one with Keira), and Doctor Who as Sally Sparrow. And she seems to be having a pretty busy 2009~~~ with The Greatest (with Susan Sarandon), Public Enemies (with Johnny Depp, Christian Bale and Marion Cotillard~~~ Ooh la!), Brothers (with Tobey Maguire, Jake Gyllenhaal, and Natalie Portman~~~ another Ooh la!), and An Education (by writer Nick Hornby) – in fact, I was checking out The Awards Circuit, and turns out they have her listed for this film as a Best Actress Nomination until now!
Now that’s pretty impressive.
Next-next up for her? Never Let Me Go (by Kazuo Ishiguro… with Keira, and Sally Hawkins) and The Electric Slide (with Ewan McGregor).
Well, he is hardly a spotting… more of a re-spotting, since I first saw him on 2001’s Heart in Atlantis with Anthony Hopkins, and later I recognized him on Along Came a Spider (with Morgan Freeman and Monica Potter). He later showed up in my radar starring in 2007’s Charlie Bartlett.
Well, look where he is now~~~
Where you will see him now? Well, he was on the latest Star Trek (as Chekov) and is now competing against himself at the Box Office with the recent Terminator Salvation where he plays Kyle Reese. All grown up. Who would’ve thought?
He does look a bit dorkish (in a funny… you can probably say he can rock the dorkability), but this photo I thought was pretty decent. And let us all forget that he was ever involved in that god-awful You and I movie (aka. Finding t.A.T.u) with Mischa Barton.
