I didn’t know Doona spoke English this great, but I’m more delighted to see how expressive she is when she talks. xD
No wonder she placed on #2 on my list three years ago, and I lvoe her even more so than I did then. If I were making that list again, she would be my #1.
I remember when I was in fifth grade I saw my grandfather die. There he was, lying motionless on the bed. I was close to my grandfather. He taught me how to write. I remember thinking, “If this is the end of life, that means we don’t have to take everything too seriously.” Children who grow up without seeing death don’t have that realization.
I ran into two really cool posts on Mika Ninagawa- one sort of talking about her work — mentioning her style and her work with the likes of Shiina Ringo, Bjork and- of course, Anna Tsuchiya — and the other a quite rare (and insightful) interview in English.
I’ve been kind of dying to see Helter Skelter. I haven’t even checked if there are subtitles available yet.
I guess people can’t stand true stars because they are so different, they’d rather watch some stupid proxies they can sympathize with.
I guess we do live in the era of the dying movie star. :\
Brown Eyed Girls has been very busy this week promoting their upcoming Xmas +19 shows in Seoul. Besides doing SNL Korea, they’ve been doing all sorts of interviews. In the latest one on Guerilla Date, they talked different things like what would Ga-In erase of her past, who’d be the one to get married first…. and they talk about their ideal type (??), which JeA says Josh Hartnett with the following message:
… which, of course, it’s hilarious.
I honestly think she did say “I will meet you” (with a really pronounced ‘t’ by the end of ‘meet’). I’m not sure where the “to” in the caption comes from… if it’s either a regular typo happening in Asian varieties, or if it is indeed part of the joke that she said “meet to.”

You know when sometimes you watch an interview with who you think is your favorite band or artist, but the interview is so bland that your fanaticism just dies a little bit and your love for the subject is never the same?
SunnyHill passed the test. Even in this short interview.
And you know what’s even cooler? LOEN subtitling their videos, specially with groups that don’t have massive large fandoms like SunnyHill or Brown Eyed Girls. It’s a great feature. So thank you so much, LOEN, for the hard work and the effort.
You know, I read that post about Japan — despite its technologically-advanced image — not being a tech nation at all [1][2], so when finding this about a radio drama took me back in time back to when my mom told me they used to watch radio telenovelas (back then known as radionovelas, of course). Having Yu working on one is so bizarre… not to mention troublesome as a fan xD
Soooooo, story of my life. The Shunji Iwai Vampire interview was supposed to begin at 9pm, which means I decided to stay up all the way into 7am my timezone to catch the interview… the problem was I fell asleep well into the 30min. mark with Iwai-san arriving just a few minutes later.
So I missed the whole thing. LOL
So I’m just picking up things whenever people mention Yu-chan on the blogosphere, especially when they are as funny as this variety segment. I mean, it contains this sequence! xD

So this was posted AGES ago, thought that I would post since some fan was kind enough to have translated Yu-chan’s answers (and we almost never get that).
Yup. I finally bought Kyou, Konogoro (今日、このごろ。) — roughly translated to Nowadays, Lately. — which I had put off getting for years AND YEARS because… there’s a lot of text. But, damn. I was seriously missing out. There’s not many photos for the book, but there’s TONS of goodies for Yu-chan fans. A LOT of information (movie facts about Yu’s shooting projects, dates, movie suggestions, books she’s given or received, a sorta detailed work around to some of the magazine work she’s done, etc.) — In short, loads of great information for her Wikipedia page. xD
Having to tell you that my Chinese Mandarin classes are paying off for the Japanese reading. Ha! I’m just gonna have to go through all the text bit by bit. Coz seriously, there’s a lot.
