How can we measure the popularity of a TV show or a film?

I just finished watching the latest Desperate Housewives episode… episode 100!! But I’m still DYING to see the newest episode of the last The L Word season~~~ AND, the newest Showtime Toni-Collette-starring-Diablo-Cody-written-30-min-dark-comedy~~ (yes, that’s one word) United States of Tara.

DH aired at 9pm (at the same time that TLW airs), but still no hint of the episode of TLW… why is that? Is it because TLW isn’t as popular as DH? Is it because TLW airs on Showtime? But Dexter also airs on Showtime… though I’m pretty sure Dexter takes a little while to show up~~ The fact is… I have no idea why I’m dying to watch The L Word tonight. Maybe it’s because I have to wake up early tomorrow meaning that I wouldn’t be able to watch the episode until later today. LOL Combine that with my left-over anxiety left from last season’s Molly+Shane… and lack of web comments on tonight’s episode.

I would assume that people that watch Showtime are more web savvy than the people that tend to watch ABC, so I’m sure someone that watches TLW would be able to make IT happen.

*sighs*

Now… if only I could get Showtime in Peru. Cable Magico *hint hint nudge nudge* … *punch punch* get it? And cut that crap of “Latin American version of *insert name of channel*”.

OK… back on my subject~~~ I know the more popular the film is, the faster it hits the internet. Is it the same for shows? Or does it have to do with target audience?

Wow, time flies! Really does… anyway, this month I was checking out some films on cable, and was interested in watching a few so I made a list. Yes, because I’m a geek… and there’s plenty of films, so I didn’t wanna miss one by overlapping them. Anyway, Little Fish was supposed to be on HBO tonight at 12.25am, and as you can see it’s 1am and it’s not on, so I went to the HBO Latin America site to check that out. Surprise!

As you can see… the HBO site (Peru schedule) has The Others listed as ‘now playing’ while there’s still 1.30hr for Little Fish, meaning it will be playing at 2.35am or so instead of 12.25am like the Cable Magico site and magazine say~~ which begs the question~ will the other films also be at other times?

Yup, finally as well. It already began showing, but you wouldn’t believe how freaky was to find out it was showing. It was a regular day in the evening when I suddenly thought to myself that I missed watching The Ellen Show because, well… no one broadcasted the show (until now), so I missed watching it from time to time. So maybe I thought of sending a message through her website complainig about it, ha! One minute later (literally), I saw the commercial that it was gonna begin broadcasting.

The Ellen Show is showing from Monday to Friday at 5 p.m. (GMT -5, Peru Time) on Warner Channel (Channel 16 Cable Magico). I leave you with some Ellen Spanish Funny. The Spanish classes did sure pay up!

The other day on Plus TV, they were showing a discussion on the “boom of blogs” in Peru. The show, 3 G (triple G??). It was sort of interesting to watch this, as I’ve been blogging for about three years already, so this has been around for me for a while.

They discussed things as to “how to make your blog really popular”, and some of the tips were really great, and some other quite obvious. However, in the end, some people just want to share their information to other people that might be looking for that something. Like with what I’m doing with the Kobukuro romaji lyrics… well, in my case – I started a blog to just keep friends and relatives updated on life abroad. The first year or two were a bit busy, and I even kept a database of films I had watched on theaters or DVD… but it was too much work. So I took that section down, it was, however, a really popular search.

Now, my blog has been reduced to just a music player… a list of links, some photographs, and the random blog entry talking about a specific issue or ranting – keeping a portfolio and being webmaster of a few websites is tedious enough work already.

Before, my blog consisted of some videos I did (there’s my YouTube account now), wallpapers, avatars, fake celebrity interviews from my friends and me, music section, movie database with synopsis and opinions… Actually, I should try to search for those videos and post them. Private posting, of course – maybe someday.

Well, anyway – I got really off-topic here. I was talking about the Boom of Peruvian blogs. People said that there would still be an increase in the numbers of Peruvian bloggers, probably until the day there’s no one who wouldn’t know the meaning of the word “blog”, which is probably a very extremely long time in an under-developed country like ours.

Why are blogs popular? Who the heck knows. The thing about blogs is that people want to know what other people are up to, therefore, turning blogs into marketing devices, such as MySpace and the Korean-community-now-translated-to-English, Cyworld. (By the way, I also have a Cyworld account, haha) – People want to know, that’s why bloggers such as Perez Hilton, or that other that sounds like Nicole Ritchie are popular. Gossip + blogging tool = Instant Gossip Magazine, without the printing issues and hot presses…

I’ve heard so many complaints about MySpace lately. I’ve seen a few accounts getting hacked… the most annoying and common problem is spamming, but getting your account hacked sucks. America’s Next Top Model Cycle 7 contestant, Megg, got her account hacked and we’ve not heard again about her – Her account states “dead profile” and all pictures have been removed. MySpace also screws up by deleting accounts for unknown reasons, which happened to Emma-Watson.net’s account – who knows why! Other people that got their accounts deleted were some bloggers who were apparently talking about the David & Goliath stores owner/’designer’. He’s been accused of plagiarizing work, and been accused of ‘bullying’ other bloggers who have been talking about this issue.

Hmm… there’s also that issue about that “blogging code” people were talking about last time. I think screw that code – really. It’s as if I were writing some sort of diary, and people would be asking me to ‘keep it clean’ – I will write what I want to write – if I don’t want to get in trouble, I just won’t publish it. Okay? xP – and if people find it offensive, they should just ‘not read it’…. how about that? That’s another reason I’ve never understood so called “trolls” – why go into a forum of a topic you despise. Goddamn attention seekers.

Whatever, I’m just gonna go wait for The L Word to start. What a great show. I think there’s only two shows on air who I truly watch… and that’s The L Word, and Desperate Housewives. – Oh! Has anyone read the Buffy the Vampire Slayer comics??? Season 8 is looking pretty awesome, I wonder how it would’ve been on TV.

Ok, this last Friday sucked!

First, there is NO sign of episode 6 of ANTM8 coz YouTube sucks. Then, computer was supposed to arrive today, but it hasn’t and my uncle said maybe later in the night, it’s Saturday already and nothing… I also decided to format my cousin’s laptop… HP laptop. For some reason, it didn’t wanna accept and wipe clean the whole Hard Disk with a copy of XP Professional, so now I’m stuck with a useless HP laptop with only 2GB free. I have to wait for the freaking HP installation CDs now.

I was also trying to make a small network between the computers in my house, because I’m tired of running around when I want to print something from my laptop in the printer of the desktop. So that also blows!! I mean, it’s supposed to be so easy, but for some reason it just REFUSES to work properly. I have officially rebooted my machine over 10 times today. And the Microsoft Support Center? Yeah, not much support in there… It figures.

After all was said and done, I ended up having a chat with Mrs. Cow inside a bun. It turned out she was from Hamburg – actually, I learned some things today. First, that thing we, in Spanish, call “Gentilicios”, it’s called “Gentilics” or “Demonym”. I also learned that people from Croatia are not Croatians, but Croats, and that people from Hamburg are NOT Hamburgers, but Hamburgians!

There you go, tell other people!

Today was the day Discovery Channel was gonna premiere The Lost Tomb of Jesus, the James Cameron documentary that everyone is fuzzing about. However, Discovery has decided to postpone the date to April 29th.

FUCK UPS.

Couldn’t you come up with a 15sec video telling me so? I had to fucking google it up to find out????

From cineencuentro.com,

FUCKERS, couldn’t you let me know WAY BEFORE March 18? I had to fucking go INTO the Discovery Channel FORUMS to FUCKING FIND OUT????

From Discovery Channel Forums,
