This is what I’m currently watching… on the air. Nothing to do with keeping up with any programs, though I should really find some time to watch Lost, True Blood, and still need to catch up on Mad Men S3. But alas, my Dead Like Me box-set just arrived – I didn’t know it came with the tv movie xD – so I guess I will be watching that the whole month.

- The Big C – for Laura Linney… and I love anything Showtime, most the times.

Didn’t love the pilot, the commercial I posted had pretty much all the funny parts… but I liked the interactions. My favorite line was that one with Gabby Sidibe. About being skinny and a bitch, or fat and jolly. Coz it’s so true. LOL

About:
Laura Linney plays a woman diagnosed with… what appears to be final stages of some cancer. She is considered boring by her son and husband, but wants to be the one staining her sofa with juice/wine. She also wants to eat onions, LOL Plus, her brother needs to take a shower. xD

Ghostwriter on DVD

Well, color me surprise~

Years ago when Discovery Kids was for kids, and it was on Channel 84 or something, there was a show called Ghostwriter, which told the story of a bunch of kids — I thought they were old kids back then LOL — that solved mysteries with the help of some type of ghost that could only communicate through writing.

Funny thing is, I saw it dubbed in Spanish… so watching it in English was a different experience.

As you can see, the first season has just been released on DVD. So why hasn’t The Adventures of Shirley Holmes been released yet? I demand it!

I have just gone through the first chapter, titled Ghost Story, which in itself contains like 5 episodes of nearly 30min. It was a bizarre experience… remembering what it was about, but then listening to the English. For once, I never knew Alex and Gabby (#1, who was a better Gabby anyway) talked Spanish… I mean, Spanglish at home. Never crossed my mind, because to me… they always spoke Spanish. LOL

While watching it, I also felt this would be a great series to revamp. Even though I am so very against remaking things, I think Ghostwriter would be pretty awesome in a new version… with slightly less 90′s Ghostwriter graphics, and much more natural dialog. Plus, nothing wrong with remaking educational programs, right? But then again, this is not a money-maker, so people aren’t interested in a revamp.

This show hasn’t age as well as Shirley Holmes has, but granted… Shirley is like 5 years ahead of Ghostwriter, and has a different budget, and it isn’t supposed to be educational.

Let’s see… just saw New York, I Love You.
as far as my expectations, I was disappointed… I did like two of the shorts. I was entertained by Brett Ratner’s segment (Olivia Thirlby and Anton Yelchin), but my favorite has to be Joshua Marston’s segment with Cloris Leachman.

Natalie Portman’s segment was okay… but her acting segment was kind of weak — plus, the bald cap she used (coz that was a bald cap, right?) bothered me a little because we know how her shaved head looks like.

Because I wanted to see something new by Shunji Iwai, I had high expectations and was let down. Nothing really wrong with it. Christina Ricci is okay, and I guess Orlando Bloom is okay… but did it have to be him?

I also got my screener for Precious, which I have seen already… but it’s nice to get to watch it on my DVD player. I’m getting ready to vote for Independet Spirit Awards ^^ Second time around!

Amazon hasn’t published my DVD Review of Linda Linda… why is that? It was a perfectly fine constructive critic that would have made Linda Linda a better release. If they don’t publish it this week, I will publish it here.

I’m almost done re-watching Pushing Daisies…
These are my last DVD buys:

  • Pushing Daisies Season 1
  • Pushing Daisies Season 2
  • The Animatrix
  • Linda Linda Linda
  • Kamikaze Girls

I received a notification on my email that Amazon was going to begin selling The Best of Rocko’s Modern Life: Volume 3 this week. First of all, I wasn’t aware that Volume 1 and Volume 2 were on the market. Then I read properly. It’s not an official release! It’s on DVD-R, so they won’t play on many DVD players. And they’re edited! And you gotta pay over $20USD for those volumes.

So that’s about $60 for just three volumes.
The Best of Rocko’s Modern Life – Volume 1
The Best of Rocko’s Modern Life – Volume 2
The Best of Rocko’s Modern Life Volume 3 (2 Disc set)

Now, is that fair? As a consumer, and as a fan of the show?

No, I don’t think so.

So this is a link to the complete 4 seasons of Rocko’s Modern Life.

I’m pimping out…

So I added more banners. I joined the HMV Hong Kong affiliates program since I seem to talk a bit about Chinese Music, and I also joined the YesAsia.com one. I also have an Amazon.com if you haven’t noticed. So you know, if you are buying anything in any of those, just follow those links, even if you’re not buying the stuff I’m suggesting, anything you buy when following those links, will go to supporting this site out. =D

And you know, I’ll click yours if you click mine xD – I’m talking about those ads too.

So here you go, you can pre-order the new Crowd Lu album over at HMV HK only 13bucks! Actually, cheaper than YesAsia, right? xD YesAsia’s affiliate program is a bit messy, even though they’re trying not to. They work with ShareSale.com which lets you link with a whole bunch of other ads… problem is, Amazon.com Affiliates works better. They let you link to specific products… I tried using their product links, but they just show a whole bunch (over 6000 products) with no way to search for the items I want to get.

HMV HK doesn’t seem to practical either, but at least it lets me link to specific products easier than the ShareSale system. Hmm… what do YOU know, I ended up making affiliate programs reviews~~~ LOL

Amazon and Google work better, because it just takes a few minutes to understand their interface and how they work. They make it easier to grab code and link to their items. ShareSale’s interface is a mess, everything is everywhere and it’s tough to find an specific item. HMV HK makes it easy to find an item to link to, but it makes you save the graphics (or even make your own) on your own server. Not practical. Tsk Tsk. Tut Tut.
