Alejandro Sanz’ Amiga Mia Lyric Translation

Ahhh, one for the memories~
I remember that I had bought Alejandro Sanz’ Mas (More) album back when it was released, so it’s one of the first albums that I bought when I was a teen xD

I might try a couple few more other translations for Alejandro Sanz, but in the meantime, here’s a translation for Amiga Mia (Friend of Mine).

Amiga Mia

Friend of mine, I know, you just live for him,
who knows it as well, but he doesn’t see you
like I do, pleading my lips to tell him
that you’ve confessed in between drinks
that it’s with your skin with whom she dreams at night
and who is driven insane with each button that
you unbutton thinking about his hands.
He hasn’t seen you shaking in anticipation
of a word, some gesture, an embrace.
He doesn’t see you like I do, sighing
with your little eyes blinking pair by pair,
listening to me calling her.
Hey, friend of mine! I know, so does him.

Bridge:
Friend of mine, I don’t know what to say,
nor what to do to see you happy.
I’d wish I could send in my soul or freedom,
which are the things that he’s missing,
fill your pockets with won wars,
of renewed dreams and illusions.
I want to give you poetry,
you think that I’m reading the news.

Friend of mine, I hope that someday while listening to my song,
you’ll soon realize that what I never wanted to do is to tell your story,
because it could have turned out to be moving.
But, forgive me, friend of mine,
my wisdom is not intelligence,
this is my way of saying things.
It’s not that it’s my job, it’s my language.

Chorus:
Friend of mine, princess of a never-ending tale.
Friend of mine, I just hope that you count on me.
Friend of mine, let’s see if one of these days,
I finally learn to speak
without having to go around a subject,
because all of this story matters to me
because you’re mi friend.

Friend of mine, I know, you just live for him,
who knows it as well, but he doesn’t see you
like I do, pleading my lips to tell him
that you’ve confessed in between drinks
that it’s with your skin with whom she dreams at night…

Bridge

Chorus

No, no, no oh…

Chorus [Fade Out]
