Bokura no Ongaku – Our Music – Yu Aoi x Chatmonchy Interview

Thanks to Acerk for the find, as well as user gp0patt0jp for the upload~~~

Now time to slap myself for not understanding Japanese. Major fail, Amy. Major~

It’s interesting to see that Yu Aoi’s interviews this year have been… more relaxed than before. It’s really really great to see her smiling and giggling during an interview.

From what I got, they talked about her piano playing… and her piano practicing habits before? They also talked a bit about something about English.

And of course she talks about food. I can’t be mistaken about that one xD

someone cares to explain the video to us? xD

— EDIT w/ on-the-go translation by Nina —

Since I turned off the IntenseDebate plugin, some comments were gone. I don’t know if any important comments have disappeared, but this one I noticed right away.

Brief (ok not really lol) translation: Aoi Yuu is a fan of Chatmonchy. Apparently she got along with Chatmonchy and sometimes they all go out to eat together. At the beginning, they talk about interior, as one of the members of Chatmonchy has just moved house and she hasn’t put up a curtain on the windows, so they started to talk about how difficult it is to find a fitting curtain. Yuu-chan herself has recently moved house because she is very particular about rooms, but her current one is very good in terms of circulation of the air and everything else. She tends to eat with her friends at her house as well. Then they started to talk about how they would hold a takoyaki party with their friends.
On their concert “GIRL ROCK FACTORY 01” apparently Yuu-chan came, and she was saying that people around her (during the concert) were talking about wanting to be a member of Chatmonchy. So they were wondering which position they would be in if they were in Chatmonchy, because Chatmonchy basically has everything already. So Yuu-chan joked that probably she could rap because there’s no one rapping in Chatmonchy. Then the narrator was saying that Yuu-chan’s wish to collab with Chatmonchy was able to be realised tonight etc. And that her favorite song from Chatmonchy is “Bus Romance”.

“You didn’t expect to join us playing piano didn’t you?” one of the Chatmonchy members said. Yuu-chan said that she was called and was asked if she wants to come to Bokura no Ongaku together (I’m guessing by one of them?). Despite the fact she was drunk when she was called, the moment she was asked that, she became sober right away. So since the only instrument she learned to play is piano, she decided on it. She practiced for 2 hours everyday for a month, which she said “after a long time I’m using my brain again”. (Sorry weird wording but I guess you get my drift?) And she had troubles with the pedaling (actually I’m not very sure if this is the correct term as I don’t play piano) because she’s not good with rhythm. Chatmonchy said that though during the rehearsal (before the real take) she was pedaling strongly, during the real take she was only stepping on it a bit. Everyone says that her speech before the performance starts was really good and they really thought, “as expected of an actress!”

Then they asked her how did she feel about her first collaboration on music on a TV show. She said that “it’s bad for my heart” (because she’s very nervous) and everyone else agreed. She said that she was so nervous that she could do nothing but smile wide although she was actually panicking and worrying if she did wrong. Everyone said that she did good and it was done in one take. She said that she did a little mistake (not really a mistake but I guess she kinda paused a bit or something) but the others replied that it often happens during lives. The singer commented that live is actually full of things like that and the others added that as long as you leave a good impression it’s all good.

They all then said that they watched Raiou and they were impressed that Yuu-chan could ride a horse though the pace of the horse was quite fast and that it was cool. Yuu-chan said that they had three months of training for the horse riding and asked if they had tried before and they said no. She said that when you ride a horse it’s very shaky and you will keep being bounced up and down so your butt tend to swell. But once the real filming starts, the moment she had to do a horse riding scene, she felt at ease (since she’s used to it).

2/2

Yuu-chan asked them if they don’t get nervous (in lives, etc). So the singer replied that they do. Yuu-chan asked how did they hold it back. So the singer said that she made herself think that if you manage to conquer the nervousness, you will find something good. She said personally it’s not possible to not feel it at all, so she could do nothing but to ‘take it in’. So they asked her back if she feels nervous when she has filming. She said that she can’t sleep the first day of filming. So they asked if she could go back safely after the first day of filming since she didn’t sleep. And she replied “hmm, I was sleepy”.

So now they talked about how Chatmonchy had a live in America. Yuu-chan asked who wanted to do it, they replied that all three of them wanted to try having a live in America and they were talking about how they weren’t really sure if what they talked about could actually reach the people around them. It was fun, halfway through the singer got tired of hearing English and she stopped trying to talk in English (probably because it’s stressful for her too to speak English all the time when her ability is limited). And they talked about how the fans actually shouted at them in Japanese, conversely. Like “arigatou!” or “hai!” Then they asked if Yuu-chan can speak English and she said not at all but she wanted to learn to be able to. She often went to other countries for filming, during that she said that she will just talk with her ‘feeling’ and it’s more or less reached people around her. But she does wish to be able to speak English. So they were saying should they learn together and go to other country together.

One of the Chatmonchy members is recently into deep sea fish, Yuu-chan asked if she kept one at home and she replied no we can’t buy it. Lmao. And she said that you’d feel like it’s really bizarre that they live in the same world with us as they have really weird shapes. Yuu-chan said that she had eat one before. They asked how did she eat it, and she said she ate it at Tooyama area (I think) and the name of the fish is genge. She said although it has a bone, it’s actually pretty flurry like gelatin. So the others said that “oh like ankou (goosefish/monkfish/sea devil)!” So the singer asked if ankou is a deep sea fish and they said yes. (Actually I’m not very sure about this part so I might not be accurate in terms of the “flurry” part haha.) Yuu-chan said whenever she watches the videos of deep sea fish it feels like watching aliens instead of animals. Apparently although we can see what they are like with the help of light, normally it’s pitch dark for the animals so they actually have somewhere in their body that exudes light so from there they can find out who is their ally who is their enemy. Apparently it’s even difficult to find one of their own kind so once they meet they won’t let each other go (like so they can reproduce? Not very sure.) So Yuu-chan said that it’s like a fate that they meet. And one of them started to joke and going all “hey we have the same light” etc etc and so they were like “woah, deep sea fish is so dramatic huh” etc.

Basically that’s it, haha. Thanks for sharing the video! It was a fun watch. Just wondering, where do you usually find your sources for Yuu-chan’s shows? You seem to be very updated with her shows. I saw one of your blog updates on her Tetsuko no Heya but the videos are already removed. If you ever find it again, I’d be more than happy to help ‘brief’ translate the video for you :) Yuu-chan is much more chirpy when she’s with people around her age, huh. Probably she gets a bit nervous around people who are much older than her so her interviews back then was more reserved? I remember her interview with Teppei was so cute, ahaha. Lol sorry had to part the comments into two because it was too long.

First of all, thank you for the time to quick translate. I’m sure a lot of Yu’s fans will be grateful *coughAcerkcough*

About the deep sea fish – are they talking about Angler fishes? You know, like the ones in Finding Nemo xD – because if that’s the case, I know exactly what she means with “gelatin” texture. xD They’re delicious, by the way. xD

I’m a little bummed Yu doesn’t speak English – I guess we all just take English at face value… at least where I live. Almost everyone is required to take classes.

The videos I usually hunt on YouTube every two or three weeks. Depending on when I have time, or when I remember. I usually leave comments on the videos I post, to ask the uploaders if we could manage something… but then YouTube deletes their videos, and ultimately the account. I got no way of contacting them anymore.

-Amy, now we know that Yuu-chan drinks!

  3. Whoa Yuu sure has some refined tastes! It's been a while since I posted on this blog hehe! Good to see that this blog is still informing all the Aoi Yuu fans out there! Thanks for the post! It was awesome to see Yuu jam with chatmonchy! It looks like they became quite close over time too =3. Does anyone else know of other kinds of music she likes to listen to? Or her other favorite bands? We all know she loves chatmonchy, but I'm curious about the other kinds of music she listens to? =P

    • @Isami, sorry- can’t help you there. If you find out, let me know ;D

Woah, I just noticed the translation is gone now that the IntenseDebate plugin is off.

      Must fix.
