Satellites Always Get Forgotten

February 6, 2010 — Leave a comment

These were announced on December, LOL
And I didn’t even post on 2008 xD

But the Satellite Awards were out, sadly Toni Collete lost Best Actress Comedy in favor of Lea Michelle on Glee. And Toni lost her SAG nod… that means I got 2/4. Damn.

Anyway, I dunno how popular the Satellite is, but they do have some wacky choices.

First of all, there was no Avatar. Praise Geezus. LOL

These are the Top10 2009 Films according to them:

  • (500) Days of Summer
  • A Serious Man
  • An Education
  • Bright Star
  • Inglourious Basterds
  • Nine
  • Precious
  • The Hurt Locker
  • The Stoning of Soraya M.
  • Up in the Air

John Lithgow won Best Supporting for his work on Dexter (but there was no Michael or show nomination), while Jane Lynch finally won her Best Supporting for her work on Glee. But then again… Glee won all the major Comedy categories like Best Actress, Best Actor and Series… while Modern Family wasn’t even nominated as series.

TV is certainly iffy.

In the film category, however, they tough it out and get the balls to nominate Catalina Saavedra for her work on the Chilean film La Nana (The Maid), while naming Shohreh Aghdashloo Best Actress Drama for her work on The Stoning of Soraya M. But then again, they also nominate Katherine Heigl as Best Actress Comedy for the horrid Ugly Truth.

And they even manned up enough to nominated the Chinese production of Red Cliff for 6 awards that include Best Foreign, Cinematography, Visual Effects, Film Editing, Sound, Art Direction, and Costume Design.

And how about nominating two female directors? Kathryn Bigelow (The Hurt Locker) and Jane Campion (Bright Star) both make it to the 5 best directors.

Check out all the nominees and winners here.

Who votes and how do I get to vote? xD
