Juri Ueno WOWOW Marathon!

August 29, 2009 — 5 Comments

While we wait for Juri’s WOWOW project (please, please! Someone sub this!!! And please, please WOWOW release this with subs), the programming  (non-coding) people have decided to do a Juri Marathon with 6 films! (Sounds like Comfy Monki to me xD) starting on September 7th (That’s a Monday, just so you know~)

  • Sept. 7th – Jozze to Tora to Sakana-tachi (Josee, the Tiger and the Fish)
with Satoshi Tsumabuki and Chizuru Ikewaki
  • Sept. 8th – Kame wa Igai to Hayaku Oyogu (Turtles Swim Faster than Expected)
    with Yu Aoi (!!! xD)
  • Sept. 9th – Naoko
  • Sept. 10th – Swing Girls (!!!!)
  • Sept. 10th – Warau Mikaeru (Arch Angels)
  • Sept. 11th – GuGu Datte Neko de Aru (Gu Gu the Cat)
    with Kyoko Koizumi~~~

Why they chose Josee instead of Rainbow Song makes me wonder… after all she was barely in Josee xD – Anyway, if you get WOWOW, don’t miss the chance to watch these six Juri films!

  1. if they are showing them with subs then I am all for this marathon!
    I need a Juri Marathon!!

  2. I think all of them are subbed, though I haven’t seen Arch Angels. Lst I heard, Naoko was subbed though I didn’t see it with subs…

  3. Josee is a strange choice indeed… quite a good movie but as you said, we see very little of Juri. Rainbow Song aaaah SOME movie: Iwaî +Juri Ueno + Yû Aoi, couldn’t be bad :)

These days I’m very mch into a Miki Nakatani phase, rewatched Kaosu, Happily Ever After, Ringu and Matsuko of course. She’s great !!!

  4. I haven’t watched Kaosu or Happily Ever After xD
But I’ve re-watched Matsuko I dunno how many times xD

I remember watching Josee because I was in my Ueno phase xD this is why I comment on them choosing it for Juri’s movie week. Oh, personal experiences~~~

  5. “I haven’t watched Kaosu or Happily Ever After”

I strongly recommend both. Kaosu is different from other Nakata’s, his style is clearly recognizable tho, it’s a remarkable thriller. As to Happily Ever After, it’s a real blast, her character is a bit Matsuko-esque but the story is not as sad.
