Archives For January 2009

Bad, bad, BAD Amy!! Last music post was… almost two months ago, so I’m way behind on music to list. And my library is really messy… as is my FB Music thingy. Also… I’m broke, can’t buy albums x’D Some very interesting music style mixing listed below~~ like who would listen to Britney and Lang Lang on the same iPod? Or Dolly Parton on the same list as Marilyn Manson~~

I’m also struggling with my 2.0V of my iPod… lots of new additions to it, but zero playing~~ my old iPod had many tracks passing the 30 plays mark. So new iPod data BLOWS. xD

Awarded Movie Watched List

January 27, 2009 — 2 Comments

Last year was a particularly good year for me to watch films. Why? Well, compared to the previous year, in which many or most of the films nominated were still on my ‘to-watch’ list, this year I’ve done all my movie watching before Oscar was announced.

Oscar Ballot 81st - Watched

Green = WATCHED
Orange = Dying to watch~~

Less than a month to Oscar, 4 films I’m dying to see~~ *cross fingers*

… and talking about tonight’s food. Because it’s still Chinese New Year, and still I haven’t had dinner. xD

You know, I almost never blog personal life in this blog anymore. And I actually reconsidered posting these photos that I’m about to post after the break.

Today was a surprisingly nice~ went to Cieneguilla because cousin wanted to, so we all went. I was listening to Miyavi, while he drove… and I considered watching Chiyo (the first ever short film I’ve bought on iTunes) but turns out the widescreen doesn’t translate to my iPod, so it was pretty cropped. Especially during the introduction, all the text on the borders couldn’t be read.

ANYWAY! We arrived early, and ordered food early because we always starve to death wherever we go~ and luckily we ordered early because the food took forever to get made, and it was ‘ok’ xD – I know I said it was surprisingly nice, and my re-telling doesn’t sound like it…

Happy Chinese New Year - Kong Hee Fatt Choy!

Happy Earth Ox Year!!!

I tend to say I’m an Oxger, well… because people always used to say “1986 – Tiger” so I always thought I was a tiger until the day I was writing a small write-up on it, and went “wha? WAIT! wait a minute… I’m not a tiger?”

And with the couple of years of reading, I always noticed I’ve got both of their traits. So I decided… Amy’s an Oxger xD

Other cool Oxes? Well, Yu’s an Ox – It’s Yu’s year!!

I know not to trust everything I read online, but Ox year is supposed to be good for Oxes (Yay for Yu, Yay for me) – but then again, if the horoscope I read is right… I rather it NOT be. It’s a pretty horrible year for BOTH my parents who are Monkey and Horse. So I’d rather they have a better year, than me having an extraordinary year. I’m happy with the ordinary, if it means better for other people.

SAGs are Today!

January 25, 2009 — Leave a comment

Totally forgot about them during the week…

I doubt I’ll be doing the Red Carpet live blogging… but be sure to check outthe website for blogging of the ceremony as winners are announced… Also, check out Inside the Gold for more live blogging of the event.

I am most likely RUBBISH at SAG prediction. Last year, when I did that Marion Cotillard FYC fan-made campaign, it totally slipped my mind and she lost. Anyway, I’ve seen almost ALL films… except for Rachel Getting Married, and Tropic Thunder. LOL’ yes, you can roll your eyes if you want.

Outstanding Male Actor in a Leading Role:
Sean Penn – Milk
Best Surprise:
Richard Jenkins – The Visitor

Outstanding Female Actor in a Leading Role:
Kate Winslet – Revolutionary Road
Best Surprise:
Meryl Streep – Doubt
I’m sorry… I did enjoy her character however bad you may think she was. But I’m iffy here… Anne Hathaway still has a chance, in my opinion~~~ I already explained the BAFTA snub.

Outstanding Male Actor in a Supporting Role:
Heath Ledger – The Dark Knight
Best Surprise:
Philip Seymour Hoffman – Doubt
Sorry, after watching Doubt, I am a big BIG fan of the film in respect of acting.

Outstanding Male Actor in a Supporting Role:
Taraji P. Henson – The Curious Case of Benjamin Button
Best Surprise:
Penelope Cruz – Vicky Cristina Barcelona
I probably could’ve chosen the opposite, but the fact that I got it so wrong last year makes me think Henson has the best shot at it here. Penelope speaks a little too much Spanish in this role, that’s why I’m iffy. Otherwise, I would’ve chosen her as my winner. Of course, Winslet could win here and screw me up in the Leading Actress~~ LOL

Outstanding Performance by a Cast:
Milk
Best Surprise:
Doubt

– That’s it~~~ all my film winner predictions. Sorry, don’t do TV, but I’m expecting Tina Fey and 30 Rock to make an appearance in the stage. Quick thoughts?

Sholly: In your Eyes…

January 24, 2009 — 1 Comment

Aha… to commemorate eh… the first, and tomorrow’s second episode of The L Word.

Sholly! xD

I just liked the letter Molly wrote… Jenny reading it? Not so much. But it was a good letter. Also, 3 captures of Clementine Ford, the part just right after Jenny tells Molly Shane’s fucking Nikki at the Chateau. *rolls eyes*

Oscar Nominations 2009!

January 22, 2009 — 4 Comments

I do pretty good Oscar prediction nominees, it seems~ 78 of 92 from all categories (minus shorts and docus), and pretty much perfect score on major categories of acting, directing and film~

Surprises? Kate Winslet nominated for The Reader as Best Actress… No Bolt on the Best Song~~~ xD and Slumdog getting a double nod there. Wooo for Richard Jenkins!!

Not so good surprises… Waltz with Bashir snub in the animation category.

And as I predicted Benjamin Button is up for 13 nods (I said 12-14), and Slumdog is up for 10 (I said 9-10) LOL~

Check out the graphic list of nominees, or the print-friendly version that includes “film by awards” and “award # by film”.

LOL’

Sounds so wrong in so many levels~~

Last EVER First episode of The L Word~~ You likey? I was dying to see… and I actually saw half of it first, but didn’t have time to finish it all ‘coz I had stuff to do. LOL But that half was enough~

I’m blogging Sholly once again because it’s one of the most popular posts in here~ even more so after this last first episode. Even if Clementine Ford made like a 1 or 2-minute appearance, but that was enough to get the Sholly postings on this blog to spike. WTH~

First things first… why would Phyllis tell Molly that she had ‘a talk’ with Shane? Main pet peeve~~~ SO convenient. Phyllis will NEVER ever confess to Molly that she intervened. So even though I was thrilled to see and hear Molly saying she ‘loves’ Shane… I don’t think it should’ve been on this first episode. Just saying.

Then there’s Jenny… I hate Jenny with a passion. – Not saying I hate Mia, Mia’s great… she’s so good she makes me HATE Jenny. LOL – You should’ve seen me when Jenny put the jacket and the letter away~

I know… not much Sholly airtime on the episode, but we did hear Shane and Molly saying they love each other. Bette even laughed… haha~ And Tina and Bette fighting over who’s to be pitied the most. sounded like an IMDb Shenny/Sholly discussion, only that it doesn’t end as their argument did…

Latest theory? I read an awesome and cheesy funny idea that Jenny is only trying to eff around with Shane’s head to get back at her… Shane finally finds out, confronts her and Jenny offs herself.

There’s also my lame theory that Shane and Jenny get together for real and Shane finds out that she’s in love with Molly for real, Jenny gets depressed and offs herself. But then… since Alice is the one ending up in prison, I dunno how she fits into killing Jenny. Maybe… Alice goes apeshit after Tasha finally gives up on them, blames it on Shane and while trying to kill Shane, she kills Jenny ~~~~~ OR, whatever. LOL.

How can we measure the popularity of a TV show or a film?

I just finished watching the latest Desperate Housewives episode… episode 100!! But I’m still DYING to see the newest episode of the last The L Word season~~~ AND, the newest Showtime Toni-Collette-starring-Diablo-Cody-written-30-min-dark-comedy~~ (yes, that’s one word) United States of Tara.

DH aired at 9pm (at the same time that TLW airs), but still no hint of the episode of TLW… why is that? Is it because TLW isn’t as popular as DH? Is it because TLW airs on Showtime? But Dexter also airs on Showtime… though I’m pretty sure Dexter takes a little while to show up~~ The fact is… I have no idea why I’m dying to watch The L Word tonight. Maybe it’s because I have to wake up early tomorrow meaning that I wouldn’t be able to watch the episode until later today. LOL Combine that with my left-over anxiety left from last season’s Molly+Shane… and lack of web comments on tonight’s episode.

I would assume that people that watch Showtime are more web savvy than the people that tend to watch ABC, so I’m sure someone that watches TLW would be able to make IT happen.

*sighs*

Now… if only I could get Showtime in Peru. Cable Magico *hint hint nudge nudge* … *punch punch* get it? And cut that crap of “Latin American version of *insert name of channel*”.

OK… back on my subject~~~ I know the more popular the film is, the faster it hits the internet. Is it the same for shows? Or does it have to do with target audience?
